What We Believe
God
God is the Creator of all things and rules over all things, bringing about his eternal good purposes. We believe God exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is the Son of God who became human and lived perfectly while on earth. By dying on the cross, he paid for the sins of the world, and by his resurrection, Christ Jesus defeated Satan and brought everlasting life to all his people. We believe salvation is found in Jesus alone.
The Bible
We believe that God has inspired the words in the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments. These writings alone constitute the verbally inspired Word of God, which is, without error and true, complete in its revelation of his will for salvation, sufficient for all that God requires us to believe and do, and final in its authority over every domain to which it speaks. The Bible is completely sufficient for instructing us in the will, knowledge, and love of God. We believe that all the Scriptures point to Jesus and the salvation he accomplished.
Faith
We receive the free gift of forgiveness only through faith. True faith is trust in Jesus Christ and his redemptive work. The Holy Spirit works faith in a person's heart through Word and Sacrament. Although Jesus died for all, Scripture says that whoever does not believe will be condemned. We believe heaven and hell are real, and we all will end up in one of those two places.
Sacraments
We believe Christ gave his church two Sacraments. In Baptism, Jesus washes away sins and makes a person to be his disciple and an heir of eternal life. In Communion, along with the bread and wine, Jesus gives us his body and blood to deliver to us the forgiveness that he won for us on the cross.
Christian Living
We believe good works are evidence of saving faith. We are to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves. In obedience to Christ’s commission, we are to make disciples among all people and show Jesus to the world around us through our words and actions.
